The Estate

Bombay is just forty minutes from Auckland, but it's half a world away from the Adriatic island of Brac. And it was on this island, more than two centuries ago, that the Simunovich family first began growing the olive tree. From then on, each successive generation tended the olives with pride and skill, skill handed down from father to son, mother to daughter. Sun-drenched day after sun-drenched day, the family harvested its crop, pressing the fruit at the exact moment of ultimate ripeness for its renowned extra virgin olive oils, medicines, soaps and skin care.

Today, that tradition still thrives on their estate in the Bombay Hills where Ivan and Branka have grown their own piece of Croatia with 40,000 olive trees, on 96 hectares of land, nestled in the northern slopes of the Bombay Hills, just south of Auckland and in the heart of Franklin.
